I address this goodwill message to our players, patrons, members, professionals and officials of the Kano, Ibadan, Lagos and Port Harcourt and Kaduna Polo Clubs who are sending teams to participate at the Lagos Polo Tournament. The NPA Polo Season of 2017/2018 has been a season of “welcomes and new beginnings” as Lagos looks forward to hosting teams from Port Harcourt Polo Club and Kaduna Polo Club after a long period of absence. We are welcoming back our old friends with open arms and we see this as our new beginnings as we reunite the governance of Polo. I once again extend my message of gratitude to our Royal fathers who support Polo throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria, all Nigerian Polo Players, Polo Patrons, private and public Polo Clubs, the Police and Army Polo teams and supporters of Nigerian Polo within and outside Nigeria. I congratulate Kano, Ibadan, Port Harcourt and Lagos Polo Clubs for the successful hosting of their respective year 2017/2018, NPA International polo tournaments. We look forward to attending and supporting the continued success of all these tournaments and we look forward to supporting Kaduna Polo Club in the 2018/2019 Polo Season. We continue to bring together each and every member within our member clubs, both polo playing and non-polo playing. Our non-playing members are essential to the richness and diversity of their contributions to the fabric of polo. We encourage them to continue to support, contribute, participate and try to become playing members. Lagos Polo Club, through its President, Mr Ade Laoye and his Committee continue to demonstrate the passion, the vision and hard work needed to develop Polo. I wish them all. continued good luck.
The NPA will continue to consolidate and strive for new ideas to bring clubs together, club members, both playing and non-playing. The NPA will also strive for more innovation, better organisation and more observance & development of polo and its rules. The NPA, now in its 93rd year of existence, will continue to unify and give proper direction to Nigerian Polo. A lot of work still needs to be done in developing a coherent and exciting strategy for the future development of Polo in Nigeria amongst young people and the less privileged. I wish all members of participating clubs, players, officials, sponsors, guests and those in charge of the organisation of the tournament, a safe and exciting Polo Tournament.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL. ADEDOLAPO AKINRELE (SAN) NPA
